Diverse Content: From tutorials and product demos to vlogs and live streams, YouTube offers a wide range of content formats to suit different audiences and marketing goals.
SEO Benefits: Optimising your YouTube videos with relevant keywords can improve their search engine ranking, driving more organic traffic to your channel.
Community Building: YouTube fosters a sense of community, allowing you to connect with your audience and build relationships.
Key YouTube Dimensions for 2024:
Profile Picture: 800x800 pixels
Channel Art: 2560x1440 pixels
Video Thumbnails: 1280x720 pixels (recommended)
Video Length: Up to 12 hours (maximum)
Fun Fact: Did you know that YouTube was originally founded as a dating website called "Tune In"? It wasn't until later that the founders realised the potential for video sharing!
Why You Need a YouTube-Specific Social Media Marketing Plan
While YouTube is part of the broader social media landscape, it has unique characteristics that require a tailored strategy. Here's why:
Video Optimisation: YouTube has specific algorithms and best practices for optimizing videos for search and discovery.
Engagement Tactics: Effective YouTube engagement strategies may differ from those used on other platforms, such as encouraging comments, likes, and shares.
Analytics: YouTube provides in-depth analytics to help you track your performance, identify trends, and optimize your content.
Community Building: Building a strong YouTube community requires consistent engagement and interaction with your viewers.
Don’t underestimate the power of YouTube! If you have the tie, the ability and the content you could utilise this channel really well for success.
2025 YouTube Updates
So this year, YouTube is levelling up! Like seriously levelling up.
Here’s what’s in store for changes to using YouTube in 2025:
Your usual Community Tab is changing to a Community Hub: This upgrade will make things a bit more seamless and allows for better engagement on the platform. I guess aiming to keep you on platform for longer. And for the super organised among us, you will be able to organise items into sections to help you manage your engagement.
Supporting creators with AI: YouTube will introduce a video auto dubbing feature as well as translation which has the potential to streamline video creation significantly. Its also cost-effective for creators too and marketing content managers.
Continuing to push YouTube Shorts but with their DreamScreen software: It’ll allow you to create customised backgrounds on YouTube shorts. Bear in mind though that it dose us AI and all AI content needs to be badged as such.
Imagination Tools: Now this is very interesting. It’ll help users with content creation and analysing trends. Again another great tool for creators to take advantage of and keep up or stay ahead of their content calendars. Small businesses and not-for-profits can use this too.
Hype: If you have 500-500,000 subscribers, you could be quite interested in YouTube Hype. It is designed to try and create a more fair place for the smaller creators and brands to gain exposure against the bigger channels.
There are also new ways to monetise YouTube if that’s of interest. This is via Digital Gifting on Live Streams.
